Railtrip.travel is the result of a passion for train travel, many inspiring encounters and a desire to share.
After almost 15 years of traveling around the world, we wanted to continue living the adventure while reducing the distance we travel and our ecological impact. In recent years, we have chosen to travel by train across Europe. This type of itinerant travel offers us surprising encounters while allowing us to be captivated by the landscapes and the adventures that unfold from station to station. Encouraged by our three daughters, we are constantly seeking surprising yet comfortable train itineraries.

Our principles
Give everyone the opportunity to fill with wonder. A successful journey fills the eyes with wonder and allows one to fully enjoy the moment. We build our actions to foster these moments of awe for everyone.
Enable everyone to be a fulfilled actor within the collective. To be an actor, each person must feel heard and involved. We ensure that everyone feels comfortable in a united group working towards a common goal.
Instill trust in fostering autonomy. A journey should be experienced with serenity. To achieve this, we make sure to build confidence in each person’s abilities, allowing them to act autonomously.
Give every chance to the message to be heard. A message can only be heard if it is down-to-earth and positive. We are careful not to make anyone feel guilty, instead focusing on celebrating each small step.
Climate
The train is one of the least polluting motorized means of transport. The carbon footprint of train journeys is the lowest in terms of CO2 compared to other modes of transport. Contributing to the carbon footprint of your train journey makes perfect sense, while also being budget friendly. We contribute to the impact of our journeys by considering both transportation and accommodation.
Greentripper has assisted us to calculate to CO2 footprint of Railtrip.travel operations and all our rail adventures. Greentripper then identified concrete, certified climate projects that allow us to offset the carbon impact of each trip. The goals of these projects are multiple: reducing CO2 emissions, improving the health of populations, increasing income, and raising the living standards of households in developing countries.
At Railtrip.travel, we have selected two companies with direct impact on the environment surrounding Railtrippers: Tree and hedge planting in Belgium and regenerative farming in Belgium and France.
PlantC (https://www.plantc.be/) is an initiative that offers businesses and citizens the opportunity to support local planting projects, helping to offset their CO2 emissions near their location and enhance their positive impact on biodiversity.
Soil capital maximizes its climate impact and contributes immediately to the global net-zero goal with a high integrity regenerative agriculture project. It protects the planet’s carbon sink, which is right under your feet!
